Palette of Kairali aims to enable students to comprehend the literary pieces of canonical and representative writers in Malayalam. The students shall be competent in the various genres and modern trends of the language. They would learn the influences that shaped the literature and the thought processes that gave birth to the unique and lauded works of the language. Moreover, the insights that students receive from the translated version of the literary pieces, many re-created by the authors themselves, will help them see how translated works transcend linguistic and cultural barriers. Translated works capture the approximation of the aesthetic essence of the original works. Students will get a first-hand knowledge of the conflict between loyalty to the text and concern for the reader. The textbook therefore serves to exhibit the translated works as a recreation of art, with unity of content and form, and with its regional, ethnic and individual qualities intact.
